About Louisiana Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner Jobs
Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner jobs are regulated by the Louisiana Medical Board. The mission of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) is to protect the public's health and safety by determining qualifications of applicants for licensure, enforcing the medical practice act through the rule making process and by disciplining licensees who do not follow the rules or adhere to generally accepted standards of practice. Physicians and certain other health care professionals practising within the state of Louisiana fall under the jurisdiction of the Board.
Duties:
Employed by the hospital/clinic for the purpose of enhancing the nature and quality of care for critically acute and chronically ill adults. Works in collaboration with or under the supervision of the Emergency Medical Director or approved staff physician and association with the PCCs, staff nurses, discharge coordiantor, and staff physicians in teh planning, implementation and evaluation of medical and nursing care.
Major areas of responsibility include: primary medical management, emergency stabilization of all critically ill patients, teaching of residents and medical students, staff development and education, patient education and discharge planning. Participates in the development of and collection of data for outcome measures.
Requirements:
Physician Assistant - Bachelor degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or Health Sciences or graduate of an Approved Physician Assistant Training Program ( as appropriate for PA's); NCCPA certified or eligible; BCLS/ACLS certification; 3 - 5 years related experience in Emergency Medicine preferred.
Nurse Practitioner - Current Louisiana License; Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) licensure in Louisiana; Masters prepared, FNP/ANP Nation Board Certification; 3 - 5 years related experience in Emergency Medicine preferred; BCLS/ACLS certification.
Physician Assistants must currently have and maintain certification by the National commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) and must be eligible for Louisiana prescriptive authority.
Nurse Practitioners & Physician Assistants must be eligible for prescriptive authority in Louisiana.
