About Louisiana Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner Jobs
Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner jobs are regulated by the Louisiana Medical Board. The mission of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) is to protect the public's health and safety by determining qualifications of applicants for licensure, enforcing the medical practice act through the rule making process and by disciplining licensees who do not follow the rules or adhere to generally accepted standards of practice. Physicians and certain other health care professionals practising within the state of Louisiana fall under the jurisdiction of the Board.
Duties:
Employed by the hospital / clinic for the purpose of enhancing the nature and quality of care for chritically acute and chronically ill adults. Works in collaboration with or under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician and association with the PCCs, staff nurses, discharge coordinator, and staff physicians in the planning, implementation and evalution of medical and nursing care.
Major areas of responsibility include: primary medical management, emergency stabillzation of all critically ill patients, teaching of residents and medical students, staff development and education, patient education and discharge planning. Participates in the development of an collection of data for outcome measures. Participates in daily rounds of patients, performs pre and postoperative physicals, arranges patient's discharge.

Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or Health Sciences or graduate of an Approved Physician Assistant Training Program (as approprite for PAs). Current Louisiana State Licensure as a Physician Assistant. BCLS current certification as required. 3 - 5 years related experience in related field preferred. Demonstrate competency of any procedures not addressed in Core Responsibilities Standard to Physician Assistant Education and attests to them annually with the Supervising Physician. Louisiana Physician Assistant Prescriptive Authority eligible.
Current Louisiana Registered Nurse License. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) licensure in Louisiana. Masters Prepared, Acute Care NP National Board Certification. 3 - 5 years related experience in related field preferred. Demonstrates competency of any products not address in Core Responsibilities Standard to APRN training and attests to them annually with the primary Collaborating Physician. BCLS certification. Louisiana APRN Prescriptive Authority eligible.
PAs must currently have and maintain certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
