**option to combine an evening swing and night shift for a 13-14 hour shift; this is actually preferred for continuity purposes, but some providers feel it can be too long
Patient census:
Avg 17 patient encounters per day shift (2 admits, 15 followups)

Perioperative Role: There is a sub-group in this Hospitalist program of perioperative physicians who work in a clinic setting handling pre-op and post-op patients for elective surgeries, generally cardiac, and some orthopedic patients. They do a full cardiac/medical assessment and H&Ps for patients who have procedures scheduled 1-2 weeks later. A special interest in cardiac patients would be preferred for this position, but anyone with general Internal Medicine training will likely be qualified. On-the-job training will be provided for a locum who assumes this role. There are two providers per day, the shift is 7a-6p, and the average census is 20-25 per provider. Never more than 30 patients per day.

Anesthesia (procedural) during day and night
