First appearing about ten years ago, Hospitalist is now the fastest growing medical specialty in the country. Unlike other specialties that derive their name from a body system or disease, Hospital medicine is a specialty organized around the facility and quality care for hospitalized patients. The American Board of Hospital Medicine (ABHM) was established in 2009 and is the only certification board devoted exclusively to hospital medicine. It was founded by hospitalists and is governed by hospitalists.

We currently operate 12 hospitalist programs throughout North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Maryland.
Park Ridge Hospital is a not-for-profit acute care hospital located in Fletcher, NC- about 15 minutes south of downtown Asheville. Park Ridge Hospital is owned and operated by Adventist Health System, an established and stable multi-state hospital system. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). More than 200 providers representing 27 specialties serve on the hospital's medical staff.
The PrimeDoc Park Ridge hospitalist program (Established in October 2006) consists of a core group of (4) full time hospitalists. We are actively seeking one additional hospitalist. We would strongly prefer a Nocturnist- physician and we offer tremendous schedule flexibility. We will consider physicians seeking a more traditional schedule (day/night combo). Most PrimeDoc "Nocturnists" work an average of 14 - shifts per month. The shifts are set up in blocks and the Nocturnists have the input to design a schedule pattern that works best for them (7 on / off, 5 on / off, etc). Night shifts pay a premium, but are not high volume and physicians are not required to stay in the hospital overnight. Nocturnists bring an added value and quality of life to the practice and other physicians, so we recognize that.
