First appearing about ten years ago, Hospitalist is now the fastest growing medical specialty in the country. Unlike other specialties that derive their name from a body system or disease, Hospital medicine is a specialty organized around the facility and quality care for hospitalized patients. The American Board of Hospital Medicine (ABHM) was established in 2009 and is the only certification board devoted exclusively to hospital medicine. It was founded by hospitalists and is governed by hospitalists.

PrimeDoc is a regional, private practice hospitalist group with corporate headquarters based in Asheville, North Carolina. PrimeDoc operates 10 hospitalist programs throughout North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Maryland (100+ total physicians).
PrimeDoc of Haywood, PA is a private-practice hospitalist group. The group was established in July 2002 at Haywood Regional Medical Center (194-Bed Community Hospital) located 25 minutes west of downtown Asheville. There are currently 6 full time hospitalist physicians at Haywood Regional, planning to expand to 7 full time. We offer very flexible schedule fully controled by the hospitalists. There is no "in-house" requirement or code call responsibility. Physicians can come and go from the hospital and are not required to physically be "in-house" at all times during their shifts. Physicians will generally round on 18-20 patients per day and average @ 15-16 shifts per month.
Guaranteed Base salary above the SHM national average, attractive productivity incentives, group malpractice plans, group benefit plans, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, 401k pension/profit sharing and practice profit bonuses are all part of the employment package. Total package exceeds 250k.
