Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, MO seeks two compassionate, BE/BC Hospitalists to join 5 other Hospitalists for a team of 7. You’ll discover a quality lifestyle in a breathtaking location.   • Looking to recruit two BC/BE IM Hospitalists to join 5 other Hospitalists for a team of 7. Three hospitalists will work during the day 7 am – 7 pm. One nocturnist works 7 pm – 7 am.
  • 7 on 7 off.
  • 114-bed Hospital. This includes beds from OB and Neuro Psych Unit which hospitalists only see patients there if consulted. Therefore Hospitalists routinely cover 65 beds.
  • Average census per physician is 15 – 20.
  • Average total admissions per 24 hours: 10-15.
  • Currently, there are 3 physicians working per day 7a-7p. One physician on nights 7p-7a.Each physician starts out with a set number of patients who they round and take call on during their shift (12 hours). In addition two of the 3 physicians on per day alternate admissions. Basically every 3rd day you are not on call for admissions, you round on your patients only. Many physicians do try and leave a little early during the day they are not admitting. Physician will still need to be close in case they need to respond to one of their patients (less than 20 minutes). Physicians do leave for lunch even on days they are admitting if time permits.
  • 12 bed ICU. ICU skills are important as Hospitalists do cover the ICU. (i.e. Vent management, Central lines…)
  • ICU SUPPORT: Anesthesiologists and surgeons available for consults and can help with difficult cases. There is one Pulmonologist who can help with any critical pulmonary patients on vents or those who have chronic pulmonary issues. Anesthesia available 24 hours if needed. RT staff is proficient with intubating patients and anesthesia is a backup as well.
  • The nocturnist is not required to round on patients. They do however, take call from nursing staff on patients throughout the night and may have to see a patient if they are deteriorating, etc. The rest of the time is spent doing admissions. Admissions can be anywhere from 3-10.
  • Emergency Department is responsible for codes. Hospitalist is asked to arrive as soon as possible to take over care.
  • Specialty & Subspecialty services include: Pulmonology, Pathology, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Psychiatry, Interventional Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, Urology, General Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Pain Management, OBGYN, Ortho, Wound Care, Interventional Cardiology, Diagnostic Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Occupational Medicine.
  • West Plains, MO is in an underserved area and we do accept J1 and H1B applicants. (We are H1B cap exempt) We are also located in the Delta Regional Authority which has no limit on J1 waivers and there is no waiver application deadline.

Benefits

  • Salary is based on MGMA median which is currently - $263,000 000 plus worked RVU production on top of base. (Option to work extra 12 hour shifts at $1,500 per shift if needed) Most physicians W-2’s are above $300K
  • 25,000K sign on bonus
  • Up to $10,000 relocation
  • Up to $4,500 for CME’s and professional license fees, dues and journals.
  • We provide Malpractice at $2 mill per occurrence/ $6 mill aggregate. This is a claims made policy. If Physician completes term of agreement, OMC will provide tail coverage.
  • Benefits include: health, dental, vision, life, long and short term disability, AD&D,
  • Very reasonable health insurance, non-smoker employee rate is $22.00/month. Family rate: $154/month
  • 403B matching up to 3% after one year.
  • 457 plan “Top Hat Plan” max contribution of $18,000 per year.

Ozarks Medical Center

Ozarks Medical Center http://www.ozarksmedicalcenter.com/ is a 114-bed, not-for-profit health care system employing approximately 1,100 people and serving an 11-county area. The medical staff consists of more than 100 active and associate members with specialties in anesthesiology, cardiology, cancer treatment, child psychiatry, emergency medicine, family practice, general practice, general surgery, geriatrics, internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, oncologic surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pathology, pediatrics, podiatry, pulmonology, psychiatry, radiology and urology.

The OMC emergency department: provides 24-hour service, seven days a week. OMC manages several ambulance services in Missouri. Air Evac Lifeteam, a local helicopter ambulance service, is based at the medical center.

The Urgent Care Clinic: Open evenings and weekends for patients needing primary care services after physicians’ offices are closed.

OMC Surgical Services: a 20,000 square-foot facility that houses six spacious suites for both inpatient and outpatient surgery.

The OMC Cancer Treatment Center: State-of-the-art facility providing radiation treatment, chemotherapy and hematology services.

OMC Rehabilitation Services: Features physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology services. Other rehabilitation services include sports medicine, industrial work conditioning and ergonomic, massage therapy, lymphedema therapy and the hand clinic.

OMC Outpatient Imaging Services: Features MRI/MRA, CT/CTA, Computed Radiography and Fluoroscopy, ultrasound, digital mammography and stereotactic mammography for outpatient breast biopsies. Other services are X-ray, fluoroscopic nuclear medicine, CAT Scan and PET/CT Scan. Imaging Services includes West Plains Imaging Services of Ozarks Medical Center, a full-service outpatient imaging center.

Cardiac Diagnostic Services: Includes a cardiac catheterization lab, a cardiac diagnostic lab and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. In January 2005, OMC’s interventional and open-heart surgery program became operational.

OMC Behavioral Healthcare: A network of mental health services providing outpatient counseling, community support, medication services, psychological testing, children and youth services, day treatment and home-based care.
