Opportunity for a Physician to join our Hospital Medicine team full-time as an Internal Medicine Staff Chief at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The right candidate will have a broad knowledge base; administrative abilities; superb verbal, presentation, and teaching skills; an interest in medical education; and collaborative team-building skills with local clinical staff. Flexibility, creativity, dedication and commitment to academic internal medicine excellence, and hospital-based teaching interests/experience are also required. The primary responsibility of the chief resident is to serve in teaching, administration and organization of the program. Important input is desired in structuring and building a new program. We have an emphasis on faculty development and have teaching inpatient duties involving the staff chief. Some of the potential duties include serving as a clinical resource for administrative questions, arranging sick and vacation coverage, serving as an integral part of the residency's program evaluation committee and clinical competency committee, assisting and overseeing the core faculty in evaluating residents and augmenting evaluation techniques for resident performance in the milestones, and mentoring and counseling residents as directed by the program director. The right candidate should have experience in scholarly activities, prior leadership experience, and an amicable work style with superior communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects at once is a must.
